Why Tallow Lotion?

Our tallow lotion is made with 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef tallow, a traditional skin-loving fat naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E and K. Tallow's fatty acids are close to the oils your skin already makes, which is why a beef tallow lotion sinks in and softens dry skin instead of sitting on top of it.

The difference between this and a balm is texture. Our whipped balm is rich and concentrated, best for very dry patches, hands and lips. This grass-fed tallow lotion is lighter and faster absorbing, in a pump bottle that suits daily, head-to-toe use. Both start with the same short ingredient list: tallow, organic jojoba oil and pure essential oils, with nothing synthetic added.

There are three to choose from. Gentle is fragrance-free for sensitive skin, Fresh lifts with orange, bergamot and cedarwood, and Calm pairs organic lavender with chamomile and vanilla for the evening. Every batch is double-purified, so there is no beefy smell, just clean moisture.

Can I use tallow lotion on my face every day?

Why are some dermatologists cautious about tallow?
The usual points are that tallow is an animal fat, that it is rich and occlusive, and that it has not been through the clinical testing a lab-made cream gets. Read another way, those are the reasons people choose it: a food-grade ingredient humans have used for centuries, not a mix of water, synthetic fragrance and fillers, and occlusive simply means it helps hold moisture in. Go lightly if your skin is oily, and see a professional for an active skin condition.

Does tallow help with fine lines?
We will not claim it erases wrinkles. What well-moisturized skin does do is look plumper and smoother, so fine lines are less noticeable, and vitamins A, D, E and K in grass-fed tallow support skin that looks healthy.
