Tallow Lotions

Deeply Nourishing Skincare From Real Ingredients

Why Tallow Lotion?

Our tallow lotion is made with 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef tallow, a traditional skin-loving fat naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E and K. Tallow's fatty acids are close to the oils your skin already makes, which is why a beef tallow lotion sinks in and softens dry skin instead of sitting on top of it.

The difference between this and a balm is texture. Our whipped balm is rich and concentrated, best for very dry patches, hands and lips. This grass-fed tallow lotion is lighter and faster absorbing, in a pump bottle that suits daily, head-to-toe use. Both start with the same short ingredient list: tallow, organic jojoba oil and pure essential oils, with nothing synthetic added.

There are three to choose from. Gentle is fragrance-free for sensitive skin, Fresh lifts with orange, bergamot and cedarwood, and Calm pairs organic lavender with chamomile and vanilla for the evening. Every batch is double-purified, so there is no beefy smell, just clean moisture.

Want something richer, or a cleanse to use it after? Pair your lotion with a whipped tallow balm or a grass-fed tallow soap. New to tallow? See real beef tallow for skin before and after results.

I Made This For Us

Hi, I’m Rina, the founder of The Primal Tallow Balms and Soaps. I created this skincare line because I believe what we put on our skin should be as pure as what we eat.

My journey started with healing through nutrient-dense food, and it led me to skincare—because our skin absorbs everything. That’s why we use only 100% grass-fed, finished beef tallow, sourced from local farmers, to craft clean, deeply nourishing products without any harmful chemicals.

This isn’t just skincare—it’s a return to nature, to real ingredients that truly heal. I’m beyond excited to share this with you and to grow this movement of people who care about what they put on their skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is tallow lotion good for?

Tallow lotion is a simple daily moisturizer for dry, tight or rough skin. Grass-fed tallow is naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E and K and in fatty acids close to the ones your own skin makes, so it softens and helps seal in moisture. Ours is light enough for everyday use on face, hands, legs and anywhere that feels dry, and it absorbs faster than a balm.

Is tallow lotion good for sensitive skin?

Many people with easily irritated skin like it because the ingredient list is short: grass-fed tallow, organic jojoba oil and, in the scented versions, pure essential oils. No sulfates, no synthetic fragrance, no fillers. Our Gentle Unscented lotion leaves the essential oils out entirely. It is a cosmetic moisturizer rather than a treatment, so patch test first and check with your doctor about any ongoing skin condition.

Should I choose tallow lotion or tallow balm?

Pick by texture and habit. The whipped balm is richer and more concentrated, so it suits very dry patches, hands, lips and overnight use. The lotion is lighter and faster absorbing in a pump bottle, which makes it easier for daily head-to-toe use and for anyone who dislikes a greasy feel. Plenty of people keep both, lotion in the morning and balm at night.

Does tallow lotion smell like beef?

No. Our tallow is double-purified, which removes the beefy smell people expect. Gentle Unscented has almost no scent at all, Fresh smells of orange, bergamot and cedarwood, and Calm of lavender, chamomile and vanilla. Any scent comes from pure essential oils, never synthetic fragrance.

Can I use tallow lotion on my face every day?

Yes, most people do. Use it on clean skin morning or night and start with a small amount, since a little goes a long way. If your skin is oily or acne-prone, go light and try it on part of your face for a week first. Skin is personal, so patch test and see how yours responds.

Why are some dermatologists cautious about tallow?

The usual points are that tallow is an animal fat, that it is rich and occlusive, and that it has not been through the clinical testing a lab-made cream gets. Read another way, those are the reasons people choose it: a food-grade ingredient humans have used for centuries, not a mix of water, synthetic fragrance and fillers, and occlusive simply means it helps hold moisture in. Go lightly if your skin is oily, and see a professional for an active skin condition.

Does tallow help with fine lines?

We will not claim it erases wrinkles. What well-moisturized skin does do is look plumper and smoother, so fine lines are less noticeable, and vitamins A, D, E and K in grass-fed tallow support skin that looks healthy. Customers tell us their skin feels softer and looks more even within a few weeks. Results vary from person to person.
