Is this good for eczema-prone or very dry, reactive skin?
It's our most thoughtfully blended balm for dry, rough, easily-irritated skin. Calendula, colloidal oats, plantain and jewelweed are botanicals people have long reached for when skin feels reactive, and tallow helps soften and comfort tight, flaky patches while supporting your skin's natural barrier. As with any new product, patch test first, and for diagnosed skin conditions check with your doctor.
What's in it, and why those ingredients?
Grass-fed tallow and shea butter for rich moisture, plus calendula, plantain, jewelweed, turmeric and colloidal oats, the soothing botanicals people turn to for upset skin, with a little bergamot and tea tree. It's free from synthetic fragrance and additives.
Is it gentle enough for sensitive skin?
It's blended specifically with reactive skin in mind, using simple, skin-friendly botanicals. It does contain a little bergamot and tea tree, so if you're very sensitive to scent, patch test first or try our fully Unscented balm.
What does "whipped" mean?
We whip the tallow to fold in air, giving it a soft, light texture that melts in and absorbs without feeling heavy on already-irritated skin.
Will it clog pores?
For most people, no. Tallow is close to your skin's own oils and absorbs well rather than blocking pores. Use a thin layer on the areas that need it.
How is it different from your Unscented balm?
Unscented is pure tallow and oils with nothing added, the simplest choice. Soothe + Repair adds targeted botanicals like calendula, oats and jewelweed for skin that's dry, rough and reactive and wants a little extra care.

Great stuff make your teeth shiny also
The tallow cream doesn’t leave you feeling all greasy and provides far more moisture than commercial lotion. Tallow soaps leave you feeling clean without all the chemicals in regular soap. I’ve also tried other tallow soaps and only use the Primal now.

I’ve been using the tallow face and body balm for several weeks now. For the past couple of winters I’ve had dry cracked and red skin on my left elbow. Since applying the balm on my elbow at night, it has visibly improved. It’s less red, cracked and feels alot smoother which you can see in the photos—top is before and bottom is today. I’m sorry my elbow selfies aren’t very good! It’s hard to take the photo. If you’d like I can ask a friend or family member to take it for me.

It is very moisturizing, yet soaks in quickly. Scent is pleasant. Before this I used to buy other brands, they all had a strong tallow smell. this one by far is the best I have used in the past 5 years.
